How can I help my cat adjust to sleeping in its own room after allowing it to sleep with us as a kitten?

Why would you do that? Your cat has grown up sleeping with you. Why cant you make him or her a little bed at the foot of your bed or somewhere closer to you. Your cat feels safe and secure and now you want to change all that. It won't be easy and short of locking the poor thing up in another room…hey why do you even have a cat? For looks or so you can say you own one? Why don't you care about how traumatizing it will be for the precious furbaby. You do understand that cats have feelings like we do. They need the comfort and security you can provide and loving him or her is most important. Try to figure out something better than putting kitty in a room alone to sleep. You aren't a cat person so once again why do you have a cat?
